"L'erreur vient de ce que l'on considère l'enseignement comme la transmission d'un savoir utile et non comme la formation de l'esprit" (Jacqueline de Romilly)
Since more than 30 years Enrico Gatti is involved in baroque violin specialized teaching. He started when he was very young and always continued with enthusiasm, besides his research and concert activity. His great experience, gained during this long time, makes him one of the most expert and esteemed teachers at international level.
Besides hundreds of courses and masterclasses held in schools all over the world, he has regularly taught in some among the most representative European institutions such as the Conservatoire of Toulouse, the Conservatoire Populaire de Musique of Geneva, the Schola Cantorum Basiliensis, the Scuola di Musica of Fiesole, the Civica Scuola of Musica of Milan, the conservatories of Milano and Rome.
Enrico Gatti is now teacher for baroque violin at the Royal Conservatoire of Den Haag (NL) and at the Conservatorio “G.B. Martini” in Bologna (I).
His teaching is rigorously based on the original sources – direct and not – of the centuries XVI, XVII, XVIII and XIX, of which he is an expert, and is always integrated with all the information that can be obtained from a careful analysis of the text of the different repertoires matter of study (concerning the programs see the related files in this section).
Furthermore, Enrico Gatti, , has always been in touch with the most dynamic musicological research, involved in practical aspects of the performance, believing this is essential for an autenthic “modern” performance that needs to be informed and inspired by a deep knoledge.
It is possible to attend the lessons asking in time for an appointment.
